Rosemary Nalden and six of her students will be extending their stay in London in order to give their very own concert at 7.30pm on Monday 12 March 2012, at St Marylebone's Parish Church in London (there are more than 20 places available).
The Buskaid Soweto Chamber Ensemble consists of nine senior Buskaid musicians, of whom three, Kabelo Monnathebe, Tiisetso Mashishi, and Simiso Radebe, are currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. They will be joined by six students from the Music School in Diepkloof, Soweto.
The programme will include classical repertoire, ranging from Biber and Boccherini to Bartók and Gershwin, as well as township Kwela, arranged and composed by the students themselves.
Those of you who have attended a live Buskaid performance will be familiar with the innate sense of musical style, humour and boundless energy which radiates from these amazingly talented young musicians. Audiences worldwide often comment that a Buskaid concert is a moving and life-affirming experience.
