QUILT
Donated by: Randielou Britt
This item is a hand-made quilt which measures approximately
5.5 x 5x5 feet. Here is the history of the quilt, as told by Randilou:
"This quilt was started in upstate New York in 1967. The woman who started
this quilt died after only finishing two panels. All the material was put in
a plastic bag, stored in a trunk and ended up in an attic. In the early 1980s,
the trunk was sold to an antique dealer in Manhattan, NY. They never opened
the trunk to see what was inside. In the early 1990s, a curious employee wanted
to know what was inside the trunk. They found a key similar to the original
and opened it. The owner of the antique shop put the quilt, as is, up for sale.
I walked in and as they say, the rest is history. I did not create this quilt,
I only finished it (although it took me two years to do it)."
Please note that the quilt has some slight discoloration/staining due to its
age and history -- but overall, it's in good condition.
