Netflix has closed a deal with Content Film & Television to acquire the exclusive US broadcast rights to BBC Two’s upcoming drama series THE FALL, TVWise has confirmed.
The news, which was first reported by Broadcast, comes as Netflix is ramping up its offering of exclusive series through both acquired programming and originals. Word is that the THE FALL will be made available on Netflix closely behind the series’ premiere on BBC 2 this May.
Created by Allan Cubitt, THE FALL revolves around a PSNI (Police Service of Northern Ireland) investigation in Belfast into a string of Murders. After the PSNI are unable to make any progress on the case(s), Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson), who is on secondment from London’s Metropolitan Police Service, arrives at the Belfast police station to review the murder investigation and close the case. The drama series stars Gillian Anderson as Detective Superintendent Gibson and Jamie Dornan (ONCE UPON A TIME) as Paul Spector, a serial killer who is terrorising the city of Belfast.

Gillian Anderson comes down to earth
To millions of fans, Gillian Anderson will always be alien investigator Dana Scully. But these days the former X-Files star is a London school-run mum - and she's joining the ranks of the terrestrial TV detectives
By: Rachel Corcoran Daily Express, UK Sun, April 14, 2013
Let's put the truth out there: Gillian Anderson has never looked better. Dressed all in black, in tight jeans and a polo-neck jumper, she wears her hair scraped back in a ponytail that shows off flawless skin and those famous cheekbones. You'd never believe she was 44.
She's relaxed, too, and instantly chatty, with no hint of the "spiky and serious" person she's claimed to be in the past. When she speaks - in the English accent she adopts on these shores - she's considered and thoughtful, but very aware of the clock and the minutes ticking away before she must leave to pick up her two youngest children from school.
Gillian talks about her role in HANNIBAL

Exclusive: Gillian Anderson talks role on NBC's HANNIBAL
HANNIBAL, the new NBC series that premiered last night (April 4) to positive reviews, is about as dark as network TV gets. The series, written by Bryan Fuller and whose pilot was directed by David Slade (HARD CANDY, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT), takes Thomas Harris' iconic star of book and film, Dr. Hannibal Lecter (here played by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen) and unfolds his pre-RED DRAGON life over an entire season (if the show does well, maybe a few seasons), aiding FBI profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) as he hunts serial killers while the good doc himself is quietly killing and consuming even more victims.
The show has an impressive cast that's also aided by veteran actor Laurence Fishburne (THE MATRIX) and, as the series arrives in its final few episodes, THE X-FILES femme fatale Gillian Anderson who, in a novel twist, plays Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, confessor psychiatrist to Lecter, his only outlet in which he can unburden himself of the sanguinary secrets he holds. It was a role that Anderson was perhaps born to play.
