February 2001 Acceptance Speech Best Actress Hello, everybody… This is very strange doing this. I imagine that there are a lot of people out there, and… here I am! I want to… I want to say thank you to whomever it is that invented this award, just in time for me to receive it (giggles), and I don't know who it is, who's responsible for voting, but thank you, and I owe you a lot of money! There's a lot of people that I need to thank and it's kind of confusing. There's Granada, there's Showtime, there's Channel Four, there's a lot of people involved even in getting this project off the ground, and it has really been quite a miraculous turn of events. I want to thank specifically Bob Last and Olivia Stewart for your incredible tenacity in handling this project from the beginning, and I'm really glad that you're around. And most importantly I think, I know that I want to thank Terence Davies. I feel honored to have been a part of your world for the brief time that I was, and honored that you allowed me to spend time with this character and it was an extraordinary experience, and I'm glad that people are responding to the film as a whole, and… I think I've run out of things to say, but thank you very much, I'm very honored, and especially that it's coming from England, and… thank you very much, have a good evening!
