Maybe I still associate her with her portrayal of Wallis Simpson in Any Human Heart, but it is hard to think of Gillian Anderson as the shy type.
At the Art London fair in Chelsea, she owns up to stage fright. "I try and get on with it," says the star of The X-Files. "There are certain things I do to keep focused.
"It doesn't stop me from being on stage, but there's a part of me, when I'm negotiating to do theatre, I have to put in another room and lock the door. If that part of me was in the room I would be saying: 'No, sorry, nothing you can say to me is going to make me do this'."
