March 3, 2013

Last month, IDW Publishing announced its plans for an ongoing series based on "The X-Files," one of the biggest sci-fi televisions eries of all time, airing for 9 seasons and inspiring two feature-length films starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as paranormal investigators working for the FBI.

Today at Emerald City Comic Con, IDW announced writer Joe Harris and artist Michael Walsh as the creative team responsible for the further adventures of agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Beyond that, Harris told CBR News that original "X-Files" creator Chris Carter is executive producing the new title -- subtitled "Season 10" -- saying Carter is "personally reading outlines and scripts, providing feedback and suggestions."

Harris, who recently launched "Great Pacific," a creator-owned series released through Image Comics, spoke exclusively with Comic Book Resources about "X-Files: Season 10," teasing the title's debut story arcs, revealing the status of Scully and Mulder's relationship as the series opens and more.

Sumatran Orangutan Society Auction
Posted at 8:07 PM (PST) on Saturday, March 2, 2013

Gillian has donated a signed copy of The Adventures of Oliver Twist from the Centennial Edition of the Complete Works of Charles Dickens.

Published by Heron Books in 1970 to celebrate 100 years after the death of Dickens, the book is bound in green kidron (faux leather) with decorative board and spine, and is beautifully illustrated by George Cruikshank.

This item is being auctioned as part of the Jungle VIP Auction, all proceeds to the Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS). Sumatran orangutans are critically endangered and could be the first Great Ape species to go extinct unless we act now to save their rainforest home. By bidding you can help SOS in their work to protect orangutans, their forests and their future.

Next month sees Anderson take the lead role in The Fall, a five-part Belfast-based BBC thriller where she plays Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson.

Does she feel she is at all like her character, who is smart, brave and ballsy? 'Well, probably yes,' she laughs, adding 'but I like her a whole lot more.'

I've seen the first episode of your new thriller The Fall and thought it was brilliant.

Really? It's so hard for me to tell what people are going to think so I'm relieved to hear you appreciate it. But you couldn't say anything else really, could you? [Laughs]. Sometimes people will just say, 'I saw it' then won't say anything else and I'd be left reading into that, thinking what might they mean?

What did you like most about your character, Stella?

I aspire to be more like her. Stella's so 'in' her body and comfortable with who she is. She has a very strong sense of how that manifests in the way that she dresses, and she's very smart. Plus, she's nice to people. I just think she's great. I think she's going to be good for women.
