Gillian Anderson will make her London West End stage debut this Autumn in a new play called What The Night Is For by Michael Weller. Gillian will play Melinda Metz, a married woman, who after many years, once again meets her married ex-lover. He comes to her hotel room for dinner - and a night of deceit, honesty, passion and regret.

Uncompromising in its attitude towards modern marriage and infidelity, What The Night Is For promises to be one of the most talked about new plays in years. Due to open in November at a yet to be announced London theatre, the lead producer on the project is Act Productions, working in association with Sonia Friedman Productions.

ROGER ALLAM has been confirmed as the actor who will appear alongside GILLIAN ANDERSON in WHAT THE NIGHT IS FOR, a new play by the American writer Michael Weller.

Roger won the 2002 OLIVIER AWARD for BEST ACTOR for his appearance in PRIVATES ON PARADE and is also known for his roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal National Theatre and for his appearance in ART.

The VENUE and DATES for the production have also now been confirmed, however the announcement will be held over until next week (week beginning 16th September). This is to allow those people who have previously purchased reservation tickets to have their bookings confirmed. Those bookers should expect to receive their confirmation within the next seven days.

Dates:

Rehearsals begin on Sept. 30th
Opening is sometime in the beginning of Nov. (tentative)
The play runs until February 22, in London.
